A free house list

Nine handpulls and twenty taps. Something familiar, and something you have not tried yet.

— The beer —

Weird, wonderful, and a decent pint of the usual.

Both the beer world and the Old Fountain have changed immeasurably over the last fifteen years. Before becoming a free house, we were part of the Whitbread brewery pub estate and you would have had a very limited selection. Now we are free to explore the beers and breweries that proliferate the UK and the rest of the world.

Across 9 handpulls and 20 taps, we aim to provide a range of beers and ciders that offer something for everyone. Instantly recognisable brands — a fantastic pint of Guinness, Camden Hells — sit beside a third of 14% imperial coffee stout or two-thirds of a soft, fruity New England pale.

Our 8 real ales include the ever-popular Oakham Citra and Fuller’s London Pride, with 6 rotational lines for pale ales, IPAs, amber, red and best bitters, milds, porters and stouts. There should always be a style you want. Real ale does not always oblige, and that is the pleasure and the challenge of cellaring it. We respect the tradition, and we are just as happy to pour what is new.

We love beer, but we are neither nerds nor snobs about it. The pub is a place for conversation. We will gladly talk you towards the right drink.
